Lizzy's having fun with her sparkler. Posted by Picasa

New year's eve 2005. Digital cameras are great. Taking tons of pictures and then archiving them without checking them out becomes second nature. I passed over a few neat shots because of that. Here's Kat playing with her sparkler as we waited for the countdown to 2006 to begin. Posted by Picasa

For several years now I've travelled to Oberammergau, Germany, as part of my work routine. This is the third year I've seen these winter animals pop up in the most unlikely of places. These two elephants were hiding in between two shops in the town of Ettal. I couldn't resist the picture....

Ettal is well known for the local abbey and it's monks. The monks make beer but I doubt that's what attracts all the visitors to the area. It's gotta be the mysterious snow elephants that are in hiding throughout the year. Posted by Picasa

As part of routine housekeeping, I ran across this image on my computer. Despite the artifacts (ghostings and blurs) I like the picture and thought I'd post it. This is a compilation of about 10 or 11 images. Venice is an incredibly picturesque city and I've dozens more of images that are just as nice as this. This site claims to be the website of Venice. Not sure if that's quite true but they do have some good information. Posted by Picasa

Lizzy and Kat take a break on one of the many bridges found around each corner in Venice.

Lizzy meets the Nutcracker. Apparently he doesn't dance so well.

Kat and Lizzy were having some fun with the digital camera and the AutoStitch program. This is Lizzy's "triple act" as taken by Kat.

Here's Lizzy giving us her "Not another picture...." look.

On our second trip around visiting Venice, I was ready to catch pictures of just about everything I thought interesting. Among all my digitized images of shoes, blank walls and other odds and bits, I managed to capture a couple of keepers.

This is a picture of the "Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore" taken from the waterfront area of Piazza San Marco. Very picturesque.

Lizzy (on the right) and her best friend Leandra are busy creating caos at the 4th of July celebration. These two are going to be heartbreakers when they grow up. Well, only if they don't end up in jail first....

Somehow Kat puts up with Dad taking her picture. I finally caught her almost smiling while celebrating the 4th of July on the 2nd of July.... That almost makes as much sense as baking an apple pie with watermelon instead of apples. Such is life, though, when one is in the military and lives overseas. Strange anachronistic things almost become routine to the point that we tend to stop paying attention

This is the original panorama image I started with. A bit of cropping, resizing and decoloring and I ended up with the B&W picture. I used AutoStitch to create this panorama from several different images.

I went for a jog around the Eibsee at the foot of the Zugspitze in Germany. It was so beautiful that I had to stop and take several photos. I pieced several of them together to get this panorama image and then converted it to black and white.

This is a picture I took in Oberammergau. The blurry lines are artifacts from the program I used to create the panorama view. European cafes are great for sitting down and relaxing.... The "old world" feel can't be beat.
