Grmph. Went for a short run today along the waterways. Finally had the chance to see the "Little Mermaid" statue (while at a run). Never very exciting to see the world that way but I suppose staying healthy is good for one.... More to follow, as long as I don't have a heart attack trying to stay healthy.

Another year, another conference....

My office sponsors a technical conference once a year. This year the conference is being held in Copenhagen, Denmark. I brought the family along on this trip which is a nice, and very welcome, change of pace. As a matter of fact, all of the folks from my office brought along their wives. The ladies have been discussing what they are going to do during the day while the rest of us are working. That should make for some interesting times....

We drove up here from the Netherlands, about 9 hours drive all told. Stopped in Hamburg, Germany, for a night before we got onto the ferry that took us from Germany to Denmark. Rather interesting but the stop in Hamburg could have been better. Well, it was the departure from Hamburg that was problematic. It turns out that Hamburg is so very large, it took us about two hours to figure out how to leave the place. Of course, it would have been asking for far too much to have just stopped and asked for directions..... That sort of thing just goes against the male way of thinking I suppose. Anyways, we're staying in the heart of Copenhagen and it's quite beautiful. The people are very nice and the city very clean. The only inturruption so far was the sudden burst of fireworks at about midnight last night. Seems that Hans Christian Andersen was celebrating his birthday last night and decided to do it in a big way, never mind that he passed on quite some time ago. It must be nice to be able to reach out from the grave and wake people up....

H.C. Andersen, as well as the Grimm Brothers, are from this area and they appear to be quite popular. There's a nice statue of the Little Mermaid on a rock just across the street from our hotel and lord only knows what else just down the street. I guess I'll just have to go exploring and find out. :)

Good luck and have fun.
