After a great deal of driving and dodging other trucks and cars, we finally arrived in Rome. This post is from the USO in Rome which has a wonderful setup right across from Vatican City. Highly recommended if you're ever in this area. Parking in this area is almost impossible. After driving around for an hour, we finally found a choice spot. Not sure that we're ever going to leave after so much work. We're off to go visit the Pope and several of his friends. Ciao!

We departed The Netherlands and drove through Germany. A stop over in Patch Barrack in Stuttgart and then we were off again for Italy. It's been a mad dash but after rushing through Austria we ended up spending a night in Trento. A rather non-descript town if you ask me. The only thing worth noting there were the towering mountains on both sides of the town. I think the thing that surprised me the most about the trip to this point is the amount of snow that fell while we drove through Austria. There were flakes of every size and in such large volumes that it seemed to never end. Not until we finally drove down the mountains into Italy did we finally escape the icy cold grasp of the snow.
We took a few hours out of our mad dash through Germany to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. Wow! That was truely impressive! Rumor has it that the Cinderella castle at Disneyland was designed based upon this castle. I can certainly see why. That was really fantastic. We only saw the castle from the city down below because we were there on a Sunday and everything was closed. I did take quite a few pictures and I'll post those on the web site when I get the chance.
Today we're heading out to Venice, Italy, if I can ever pull myself away from BLOGGING and get the driving directions. Tomorrow we're running over to Verona and then we'll drop down to Rome/Vatican City from there. I'll try to keep posting as we go along.
